Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month and Self-Care for Teachers! 🌺✨

Hello!

As the leaves start to change color and the new school year settles in, we're excited to bring you the September edition of The File Cabinet! This month, we'll explore creative ways to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and prioritize self-care to nurture your well-being. Let's dive right in!

📚 Book of the Month is:

"The 12 Week Year" by Brian Moran introduces a dynamic approach to achieving goals by condensing a year's worth of progress into just 12 weeks. By focusing on short-term goals, the book guides readers through effective strategies, time management techniques, and accountability methods to boost productivity and achieve remarkable results in a shorter time frame.

🌺 Self-Care for Teachers:

Teaching can be demanding, and it's essential to take care of yourself throughout the school year. Remember, self-care is not selfish—it's necessary for your overall happiness and effectiveness as an educator.

Start small. Even if it’s implementing something monthly, weekly, and slowly working up to the daily thing you want to accomplish, keep going. Here are a few ways to start taking care of the most important person. Y-O-U.

  1. Put Yourself at the Top of Your To-Do List Every Day!

  2. Try to keep it positive. No matter how difficult that seems.

  3. Schedule a mental health/self-care day.

  4. Set boundaries and be okay with saying “No”.

  5. Ask for help.

These simple, yet powerful steps will be the beginning of change for you. Towards the end of this email you’ll find a substitute form to leave for your sub to fill out on the day you take off for self-care/mental health.

🌎 Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month:

Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to honor the rich cultural contributions of Hispanic and Latinx communities. Here are 5 simple ways to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15-October 15) and resources to celebrate with your class:
